Snæfells Mountain and Snæfellsjökull glacier has been an inspiration for many artists through the ages. You too can be inspired!

The Hike

This tour is the perfect choice for beginner to intermediate hikers. Not only does this give you a taste of Icelandic mountain life but it also provides countless opportunities for fun and photographs. In our base hut we have all sorts of fun sleds/single foot skis that you are welcome to borrow to slide back down the slopes. We also include a visit to the famous singing cave of Snæfellsnes to test your vocal chords.

  • Sturdy hiking boots - can be rented at 1.500 ISK but please ask us when you book to ensure we have your size!

  • We do not operate Transport to and from Arnarstapi but we may be able to help you find a transfer service.

The Mountain

This tour is not available during the summer months. We drive up to the snowline and then hike up Snæfells Mountain towards the base of Snæfellsjökull to get in touch with how the landscape has been influenced by the retreating glacial crown of Snæfellsjökull. As well as getting a taste of Icelandic mountain life, you will be rewarded with incredible views over the Snæfellsnes peninsula and Atlantic Ocean.

Terms and conditions

  • Icelandic weather constantly changes and therefore we reserve the right to postpone/cancel trips due to weather or other factors outside of our control. If we cancel tours, full refunds will be issued.
  • The start of this hike alters greatly depending on season and snow. Winter elevation climb (from 150metres above sea level - 700m). Summer elevation climb (from 500metres above sea level - 700m)
  • We need a minimum of 3 people booked for us to operate this tour.

All Tours Prices include 11% VAT and Contribution to Icelandic forestry and landcare through the Kolviður Iceland Carbon Fund.
